My name is Atanas Bogoev MD. I am a young ophthalmologist working in Germany and completed the Lancaster Online Course in Ophthalmology by Harvard Medical School in 2023. I am thrilled to share my exhilarating experience attending the 4-week course!
As an aspiring young ophthalmologist, this opportunity has been nothing short of transformative, enriching, and deeply enlightening. Embarking on this journey, I was filled with boundless enthusiasm and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Little did I know that the next four weeks would significantly shape my understanding and passion for the field of ophthalmology.

The depth of topics covered in the course was magnificent. From the diagnosis and management of common ocular disorders to the latest breakthroughs in research and technology, the course covered all ophthalmology aspects.
Virtual or On-site?
While the virtual format of the course presented its own set of challenges, the organizers made significant efforts to ensure that our learning experience was seamless and enriching. From technical support to personalized feedback, every aspect of the course was meticulously organized.
Of course, attending the Lancaster Course in Ophthalmology on-site offers unparalleled networking opportunities, allowing participants to engage with peers and faculty in person.
However, the online format with on-demand access provides a flexible alternative, particularly beneficial for individuals unable to commit to a four-week on-site schedule, ensuring accessibility without compromising educational quality.
Lancaster Course Certificate
Upon course completion, attendees are awarded a Lancaster Course in Ophthalmology certificate, for their dedication and expertise in the field. I’m so excited to proudly display mine on my wall as a symbol of achievement and ongoing commitment to my professional development in the field of ophthalmology!
